The college relishes the privilege of having a healthy,harmonious ambiance and rich values that have significantly influenced the futures of innumerable students. We believe in awakening the young and growing intellects to recognize their abilities to contribute to the knowledge-based economy of the nation.
The institution was founded by Sri Omkar Prasad Bisaria in 1909. In, 1915 it became the first Govt. Aided High School in district Muzaffarnagar. In 1949 it attained the status of a degree college. Since then, it has been making continuous progress and has risen to the level of a prestigious post-graduate college imparting education in almost all the streams of the three faculties of Arts, Science and Commerce. The college has also started running self-financed courses in B.Com., M.Sc. Home Science (Food & Nutrition), M.Sc. (Clothing & Textile), and B.P.Ed. Recently, B.VoC. IT has been started as an employment-oriented UGC-approved course under NSQF scheme. A Centre of IGNOU (Indira Gandhi National Open University) New Delhi has already been established on the campus.

The college has 28 labs for different subjects: Physics (05), Chemistry (04), Botany (01), Zoology (03), Geography (02), Physical Education (01), B.Sc. Home Science (05), M.Sc. Home Science (02), Computer (02) and B.P.Ed. (02). All of these have been upgraded with advanced equipments and modern facilities. Departments of Science are equipped with necessary tools to provide research and learning environment. College continuously upgrades its laboratories.

The college has a Central Library with latest available literature and subscribed databases which caters to the intellectual needs of teachers as well as students. More than 86,170 books, 317 thesis, 700 rare manuscripts and 2500 periodicals are all housed at the library. Since 2016, the college research community has had direct access to many full-text electronic journals and databases through the publisher's websites or the inflibnet website.
